Flox raises $1M seed round for AI wildlife communication

Flox has secured nearly $1 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round to advance its artificial intelligence technology that communicates directly with wild animals. The wildlife intelligence company aims to transform human-animal coexistence through real-time bioacoustic communication.

Unconventional Ventures led the investment round, with participation from Norrsken Accelerate and returning investors from Flox’s earlier pre-seed round including Almi Invest, E14 Invest, Argand Partners, and several angel investors.

Edge Device Launches With Full 2025 Order Book

The funding follows the recent commercial launch of Edge, Flox’s autonomous device that engages with wildlife through adaptive bioacoustics powered by artificial intelligence. The technology operates continuously in remote locations, connecting to the Flox Wildlife Platform to provide around-the-clock protection for both animals and critical infrastructure.

The device targets multiple sectors including agriculture, aquaculture, railway systems, and aviation. Production batches scheduled for 2025 have already sold out, indicating strong early market demand for the solution.

    Industry Partnerships Signal Market Validation

Flox has established collaborations with notable organizations including the World Wildlife Fund, French multinational Alstom, mining company Boliden Minerals, GRR Airport, and the Swedish Transport Administration. These partnerships span various industries where human-wildlife conflicts commonly occur.

Flox is tackling one of the world’s most overlooked yet urgent challenges; human-wildlife conflict through a highly scalable, tech-driven solution said Nora Bavey, General Partner at Unconventional Ventures. The investor highlighted the company’s sector expertise and early market traction across multiple industries and geographic regions.

    Four Years of Research Foundation

The company spent four years conducting research and validation trials alongside wildlife biologists and enterprise partners before reaching this commercialization phase. This extensive development period has resulted in deep understanding of wildlife behavior patterns and communication methods.

Flox is the first company that truly aims to understand and speak the language of wild animals—and that will change everything stated Sára Nožková, CEO and Co-founder of Flox. She emphasized the convergence of advancing AI capabilities with wildlife research partnerships as creating optimal conditions for the technology’s deployment.

US Expansion Plans Drive Capital Allocation

The seed funding will primarily fuel commercialization efforts and continued research and development activities, with particular focus on United States market expansion. Flox plans to combine this venture capital with non-dilutive research grants the company has already secured, alongside growing revenue from commercial deployments.

This multi-source funding approach aims to accelerate growth while maintaining equity preservation as the company scales globally. The strategy reflects confidence in the technology’s commercial viability across international markets.

    Redefining Infrastructure-Wildlife Interactions

The technology addresses conflicts that arise when wildlife encounters human infrastructure, particularly at airports, transportation corridors, and industrial facilities. Rather than simply deterring animals, Flox’s approach focuses on establishing genuine communication channels that benefit both wildlife safety and operational continuity.

The company’s research foundation includes partnerships with leading wildlife research institutes and non-governmental organizations, providing scientific credibility to support commercial adoption. This combination of academic validation and practical application has attracted interest from infrastructure operators seeking sustainable solutions.

As artificial intelligence capabilities expand rapidly, Flox represents an emerging category of technology that applies machine learning to inter-species communication. The successful seed round positions the company to scale this novel application while addressing growing concerns about human impact on wildlife populations.
